Zomia maintains a nimble infrastructure to respond to unfolding humanitarian emergencies.

In February 2023, Zomia raised funds for earthquake relief in northwest Syria. Zomia staff brought medicine and blankets into inaccessible zones, provided equipment for excavation, and returned remains to family members for burial.

COVID-19

Zomia’s COVID-19 pandemic response has included developing case management and triage protocols for hospitals, training women in northeast Syria to produce and distribute masks, granting ventilators and other supplies to hospitals, and helping design emergency response plans, and standing up a vaccination task force.
